Karan Kapadia: Among my nephews and nieces, I feel the closest to Aarav

Actor Karan Kapadia (late actress and fashion designer Simple Kapadia’s son) has spent most of his life with his aunt Dimple Kapadia. The actress raised him like her own child, which explains why he’s close to his cousins, Twinkle and Rinki Khanna, and their kids, Aarav, Nitara and Naomika. When asked who does he feel the closest to, Karan says, “I am close to the other kids also but Aarav was the first one to call me mamu. I was nine years old when he was born and I was 11 when he started calling me mamu. It was weird but today, it feels great.”

Elaborating on the bond Karan shares with Aarav, he says, “He’s just 16 but we can have mature conversations. We’re always together at all the family gatherings, chatting. He’s studying in London now but when he was here, we’d often hang out together because his parents (Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna) live very close to my house. He was recently in Mumbai for a brief spell and we had a great time chilling together. He’s a humble, modest guy who is very tall, probably taller than me and creatively inclined. I share a great equation with him. We have a coded P language that we often chat with when we don’t want people to know what we’re saying. I remember I was a nightmare when I was his age. He’s so cool and amazing.”

Would he guide his nephew if and when he decides to get into show business? “Why is that a question,” says Karan rhetorically, adding, “With Akshay sir at home, you don’t need anyone. If he comes to me, I will obviously advise Aarav. He’s my blood and I will stand by him. Among my nephews and nieces, I feel the closest to him.”
