Karan Johar says Raj Kapoor complimented Yash Chopra for Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rekha starrer 'Silsila' when the film didn't perform

Yash Chopra's 'Silsila' is considered one of the most iconic films of all times. The film starred Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rekha and it was a casting coup indeed with Chopra weaving his poetry like magic on screen. But do you know that the film was a failure at the box office? In the upcoming episode of Koffee With Karan 8, Karan Johar will be seen recalling this one incident when Raj Kapoor spoke to Chopra at a party after the release of 'Silsila'.

As per Pinkvilla, Karan Johar will be telling this story to Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty who are the guests in this week's episode. Karan said that Raj Kapoor and Yash Chopra had shot at the same location, Tulip Gardens in Amsterdam for their respective movies 'Prem Rog' and 'Silsila'. After 'Silsila' had not done well at the box office, Chopra was upset and Raj walked up to him at a party and complimented him. Kapoor said that Yash captured the essence of that location much better. He brought out the romance of that place on screen, which Kapoor couldn't.

He further added Yash Chopra went home thinking that it takes a big heart for someone to compliment in this manner. Karan admitted that today, in the industry, nobody calls and compliments each other. Nobody is happy for each other's success.

Ajay agreed to him and said that it was better even when they started in the 90s, they used to get calls and messages when the film did well. But now it's not much.
