Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma's movie Zwigato recently launched its trailer in Mumbai. Co-starring
Shahana Goswami, the Nandita Das directed emotional drama had its global premiere at the 47th Toronto International Film Festival in September, followed by Asian premiere at the 27th Busan International Film Festival in October, last year.
At the trailer launch, attended by Kapil, Shahana and Nandita, the trio spoke about the experience of making Zwigato and the love it has been receiving.
Opening up on the Asian premiere of the movie, Kapil said, “After watching the film, people (South Koreans) were crying there, and they didn’t even know that I’m known for comedy. So, I don’t think there’ll be any disappointment.”
The comedian, who balances many hats, said that he does understand that people essentially see him as comedian since that part of his personality is most visible. However, he added, “I do comedy 2 hours a day on my show, but I’m not like that for 24 hours. There are several facets to my personality, which I’d like to show. I don’t think there will be any disappointment among fans as they’ll also be keen to see what new I’m bringing to the table.”
Zwigato is the story of a middle class man, who loses his job during the pandemic and thus, starts working as a food delivery agent. His wife, played by Shahana too, tries her best to provide for the family as the two pull all stops to make ends meet. The movie will release in theatres on March 17.
