Kangana Ranaut's 'soft porn actress' comment to Sanjay Dutt travelling to Dubai - here are the newsmakers of the week

Bollywood had a rather interesting week, full of controversies. Kangana went all out on social media with her hard hitting comments, but when she tagged Urmila Matondkar as a ‘soft porn actress’, it landed her in massive controversy. Apart from Kangana leaving Mumbai on Monday, Sanjay Dutt was seen travelling to Dubai to meet his kids. Sanjay Dutt and wife Maanayata travelled to Dubai this week, to meet their kids Shahraan and Iqra. This is for the first time that the actor met his kids, after his health scare. “Today...I want to thank God for the gift of family. No complaints...No requests... just to be together, forever. Amen,” Maanayata had captioned their family picture. After being reportedly diagnosed with lung cancer, Sanjay Dutt began with the initial treatment in Mumbai and had soon started shooting for his next film too.

Kangana Ranaut had slammed Urmila Matondkar, after the latter had reportedly stated in an interview that if Kangana was given Y-plus security then why didn’t she give information about the drug nexus to the police. Speaking about Urmila in an interview with Times Now, Kangana had stated, “Urmila, she is a soft porn star. I know it’s very blatant. But she isn’t known for her acting for sure. What is she known for? For doing soft porn right?” Kangana faced a lot of flak for her statement with several Bollywood celebrities coming out in support of Urmila.

Jaya Bachchan, on the second day of the Monsoon Session in Parliament, had hit out at those speaking ill about Bollywood and said, “Just because there are some people, you can't tarnish the image of the entire industry.” The veteran actress had also stated that those people are defaming the same industry where they have made their careers, while using the popular Hindi proverb - 'jis thali mein khate hain usmein chhed karte hain'. The veteran actress had taken a dig at MP Ravi Kishan for his statement that drug abuse happens in the film industry. Jaya Bachchan received a lot of support from Bollywood for her stand.

Rakul Preet Singh approached the Delhi High Court this week, against media trial, after her name surfaced in the drugs-related probe being carried out by the Narcotics Control Bureau. She had submitted that media reports were being run in contravention with I&B Ministry guidelines. According to ANI her plea read, "She was shocked to watch news relating to her, along with actress Sara Ali Khan and designer Simone Khambatta, being named as individuals who take drugs by actress Rhea Chakraborty in the ongoing investigation by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Mumbai."
