Kamal Haasan is in a bit of a sweat. And it''s not the heat wave in the South that''s making him break out into the hot stuff.
It''s the political situation down South that has put Kamal''s latest film Sandiyar in a bit of a stew. If we all remember correctly, Kamal Haasan''s much-hyped, forthcoming film was launched with a grand muhurat on the 18th of April this year, at Madurai.
All went well for a while.
But then the trouble started. It was not too long before one of the local strong-arm political parties, the Puthiya Thamizhagam voiced a protest against the film. The founder leader of the party, Krishnaswamy, who has a strong hold in the south, made a public statement that his party would oppose the shooting and release of this film as it would instigate violence in the state, due to its content.
Apparently the film has strong political undertones and the local leaders are afraid that some unsavoury elements might make it a political agenda on socio-religious grounds. Hence the anxiety. Due to this, the shooting of the film which was to have begun this week in Theni district near Kodaikanal in the south; has been stopped for two days.
Obviously as the political mood was not conducive to the same. Kamal Haasan is expected to rush to Chennai to try and sort out this matter with the political parties before further commencement of the shooting.
While all Kamal fans wait with bated breath to see the outcome of the meeting, the fact is that everyone is fearful that another film shouldn''t become the victim of a political agenda.
