Kalki Koechlin says 12-hour shifts are chaotic and not healthy for creative work, adding, 'Rarely did it end or begin on time'
Deepika Padukone's exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' over shift timings and remuneration sparked a discussion over long working hours in the film industry. Several actors and filmmakers have shared their opinions on the subject already, and now, Kalki Koechlin has joined the bandwagon. The 'Shaitan' actress has expressed her views on the same in her recent interaction. Let's learn more about it.
The actress stated that even when she was shooting for 'Goldfish' (2023) in London, strict rules were set with one-hour lunch breaks and everyone getting the seventh day off.
She added, "I believe we can learn a great deal from that to create a happier set. The chaos we work with here isn’t necessarily healthy for creative work."
She further shared that in India, a crew of no less than 100 people is always present on the sets. Koechlin added, "It can be chaotic and noisy where you’re trying to concentrate."
Kalki expressed that there is a lot of "shaant (peace)" on the sets of international productions, and according to her, India could learn from that. She said, "As for them, I think they could learn from us how to heighten emotion without it feeling over-the-top."
