She shared a video in which she said, “Happy eightieth birthday, mom. I can never thank you enough for everything you’ve taught me by example and still continue to do so today. I love you to bits and pieces. (Kisses).”
While posting the video on Instagram, Kajol wrote, “Eight decades of love, wisdom, and laughter! Happy Birthday to my incredible Mom! .”
The video also included a few unseen clips of Tanuja from her old interviews. In one of them, she talked about being “bred in the film industry”. She is heard saying, “I was born and bred and brought up in this film industry, for me this is family.”
Tanuja, younger sister of Nutan, married filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee. She is the daughter of Bollywood’s legendary actor Shobna Samarth and producer Kumarsen Samarth.
Tanuja is best known for her roles in Hindi and Bengali films. Some of her best performances include 'Memdidi' (1961), 'Deya Neya' (1963), 'Chand Aur Suraj' (1965), 'Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi' (1966), 'Jewel Thief' (1967) among others.
