Filmmaker Karan Johar has often been called the flag bearer of nepotism by netizens. Since, he has launched star kids like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Ananya Panday, and many others in his film, he is trolled for promoting nepotism in the industry. So far it was only the netizens pulling his leg on the topic, now even Karan Johar’s childhood friend and Bollywood star Kajol, is also taunting him. “Make films without star kids,” she says.
This happened when recently Karan Johar and Kajol were featured in a food advertisement. It beings with Karan asking Kajol if she would like to have soup; to this the actress question if he would be able to make soup without star kids. And in a jiffy the question backfires on her when Karan says, “You are also a star kid”. (For the unversed, Kajol is the daughter of filmmaker Shomu Mukherjee and actor Tanuja. Even her aunt Nutan and grandmother Shobana Samarth are famous names in the entertainment world.)
Further, when Karan brings the bowl of soup to Kajol, she leaves no chance to praise and roast him at the same time. On one hand, she praises Karan’s cooking and on the other hand, she says, “now make films like this, without star kids.” And then both enjoy a fake laugh.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahaani’, featuring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt will be released on 28 April 2023. On the other hand, Kajol’s ‘Salaam Venky’ will be out later this month, in which she plays a mother trying to take care of her terminally ill son.
