Kajol and Twinkle Khanna get trolled for their physical infidelity comment; ‘it actually reflects suppressed emotions’
A recent clip from Kajol and Twinkle Khanna’s celebrity talk show has sparked an online debate. During one of the segments of the show, the guests Janhvi Kapoor and Karan Johar, along with the two hosts, were asked if they agree or degree on emotional infidelity being worse than physical infidelity. While the ‘Dhadak’ actress strongly stood her ground and said that physical infidelity cannot be tolerated, Karan Johar, Twinkle Khanna, and Kajol emphasized that it is not really a deal breaker. Twinkle even said, ‘Raat gayi bat gayi (what happened, happened, move on),’ but Janhvi didn’t budge from her opinion. This clip has gone viral all over the internet, where, on the one hand, the ‘Param Sundari’ star is being lauded for her take, and the hosts Kajol and Twinkle are receiving backlash for their viewpoint.
Furthermore, in the context of the comment, where Twinkle pointed out that Janhvi is young, in her 20s, but the time she gets to her age bracket of 50s, her opinion would change, the psychologist added, “So no, it's not about age or maturity, it's about respect and boundaries.”
In her caption, she also added, “Here’s the psychological truth — cheating, whether emotional or physical, isn’t about age or experience. It’s about boundaries, attachment, and emotional regulation.”
She further added, “Normalizing cheating is like normalizing emotional numbness. It might sound progressive, but it actually reflects suppressed emotions and avoidance coping. Loyalty isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being honest, consistent, and emotionally available. No form of cheating is normal — emotional or physical. Because love without respect is just attachment, not connection.”
In the comment section as well, the psychologist wrote - "People call it being chill… psychologists call it low self-worth ." People appreciated her take on the whole clip, and one of the internet users wrote - "Normalize loyalty, not betrayal ✋"
Another netizen wrote - "Agreed, cheating is cheating..be it emotional, physical, or even flirting. All this means that you are showing the other person that you are available to have fun with, or when you don't involve your partner or hide anything from your partner or doesn't care about your Partner's feelingsPeople tend to cover it up(Cheating) by giving different names to it, just to have fun or mind-distraction or a time-pass♀️"
Several others praised 'The Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari' actress, calling her the only sane person on the show. They appreciated Janhvi and gave her love and respect for holding her ground despite being one against three. Though the actress didn't say a word after Twinkle's comment in the end, her fans and netizens reacted.
“They have been so conditioned to accept that as a part of their Bollywood lifestyle that they see it as normal. Anyone saying otherwise is apparently weird, or naive or stupid I admire her for addressing the elephant in the room,” read an X post.
Another internet user commented, “Seriously, those out of job actresses are weird. I wonder how their husband might feel about this kind of thinking ”
Echoing a similar sentiment, another netizen wrote, Honestly, there’s nothing new about the industry, but I pity @ajaydevgn and @akshaykumar .Now the question should be, how many times has raat gayi for @itsKajolD and @mrsfunnybones. These two were trying to talk about moral policing when their own morals are quite visible.
Several others said that it is the industry reality, and perhaps that is why the actresses normalized it.
Forgiving physical cheating is emotional suppression; a psychologist weighs in
The video was shared on a page of a psychologist, who pointed out everything that was wrong with Kajol, Twinkle, and Karan’s take on physical infidelity. Completely disagreeing with their statement, she said in her video, “So basically your partner will physically sleep with someone else and you will forgive him and that's normal? Well, that's not forgiveness, that's emotional suppression. When you start justifying cheating and betrayal, you also normalize disrespect. Physiologically cheating triggers the same part of the brain that's activated during physical pain. That's why it hurts so much.”Furthermore, in the context of the comment, where Twinkle pointed out that Janhvi is young, in her 20s, but the time she gets to her age bracket of 50s, her opinion would change, the psychologist added, “So no, it's not about age or maturity, it's about respect and boundaries.”

Netizens slam Kajol and Twinkle Khanna for their comment on physical infidelity
Several X (formerly called Twitter) users also expressed their disagreement. They heavily criticized Kajol and Twinkle for justifying physical infidelity.“They have been so conditioned to accept that as a part of their Bollywood lifestyle that they see it as normal. Anyone saying otherwise is apparently weird, or naive or stupid I admire her for addressing the elephant in the room,” read an X post.
