'Kaithi' becomes Ajay Devgn's 10th south remake, here's a list of the actor's other films

​Kaithi (2021)

It won't be wrong if we call Ajay Devgn as the king of South remakes as the actor has already done nine films in the past and has signed his 10th film. In a tweet, the actor confirmed that he will be doing the official Hindi remake of the Tamil film 'Kaithi'. Ajay has never failed to impress us with his stellar performances and we are sure that with this south remake another hit film is on its way. The film is slated to release on 12 February 2021. The original action-thriller featured Karthi in the lead. The 2019 release was written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. 'Kaithi' focuses on the journey of Dilli, an ex-convict, whose plans of meeting his daughter are thwarted when an inspector conducts a drug raid.

​Drishyam (2015)

Nishikant Kamat’s directorial was the remake of the 2013 Malayalam movie of the same name. Like the original one, Ajay's film was also critically acclaimed. Cinephiles were all praise for Ajay Devgn and Tabu's act in the film. The film showed how a common man becomes a murder suspect when the son of a high-ranking police officer who had harassed his daughter goes missing.

​Action Jackson (2014)

The 2014 release was the official Hindi reboot of Telugu film 'Dookudu' which was directed by Prabhu Deva. Ajay was seen performing some high octane action sequences in the film. The story was about a small-time crook (Ajay) who gets entangled with a ruthless girl who believes that AJ will bring her good luck. The consequences of their relationship form the crux.

​Himmatwala (2013)

The 2013 release directed by Sajid Khan was the remake of Telugu film 'Ooriki Monagadu'. The tale was about an evil landlord who falsely accuses a temple priest of stealing money, causing him to commit suicide. Years later, his son (Ajay) decides to take revenge on the landlord by marrying his daughter (Tamannah).

​Son of Sardar (2012)

S.S. Rajamouli's hit Telugu film 'Maryada Ramanna' was remade in four languages one of which was Hindi. The film was titled as 'Son Of Sadar' and was directed by Ashwani Dhir. The story revolved around the two warring Sardar families and Ajay Devgn who plays Rajveer an innocent Sikh, torn between a family dispute. His fortune leads to a comedy of errors which makes this film a laugh riot. Apart from Ajay the film also starred Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt and Juhi Chawla.

​Singham (2011)

Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty's successful franchise 'Singham' released in 2011 was the remake Tamil blockbuster Singam. It was also the first film of Shetty's cop universe. Ajay Devgn played an honest cop in the film who aims to eliminate corruption from the society. It is said that Bajirao Singham is one of the best characters of Ajay's career. The original film starred Suriya and Anushka Shetty in a lead role.

​Sunday (2008)

Rohit Shetty's comedy thriller 'Sunday' was the official remake of Telugu hit film 'Anukokunda Oka Roju'. The film which starred Ajay Devgn and Ayesha Takia in lead roles had failed to impress the audiences at the theatres. The film revolved around an amnesiac woman Sehar who fears a missing day in her life. Problems ensued for her when she realises that she might have been involved in a crime. She later tries to retrace her treads between Saturday evening and Monday morning and what happens while she reminisces the events is the film all about.

​Golmaal: Fun Unlimited (2006)

Rohit Shetty's 'Golmaal: Fun Unlimited' was a remake of super hit Malayalam film 'Kakkakuyil'. The film featured Ajay Devgn, Sharman Joshi, Arshad Warsi and Tusshar Kapoor in lead roles. The story revolved around four runaway crooks who take shelter in a bungalow which is owned by a blind couple. Ajay aka Gopal pretends to be the couple's America returned grandson. There the four meet the beautiful neighbour Rimi Sen and promptly fall in love. More foolishness results as the group evade their debtor Vasool Bhai and plan on thwarting a gangster's plan to regain stolen diamonds.

​Insan (2005)

Ajay Devgn's 'Insan' was the remake of the Telugu film 'Khadgam'. The story was about a police offer who is hellbent to arrest a terrorist who is planning to destroy Mumbai and settle a personal grudge with him. The original film was directed by Krishna Vamsi and the remake was helmed by K. Subhash. The film also featured Akshay Kumar, Esha Deol, Lara Dutta and Tusshar Kapoor in key roles.

​Yuva (2004)

The multi-starrer political thriller was the reboot of the popular Tamil movie 'Aaytha Ezhuthu'. Yuva showcased the stories of three young men Michael (Ajay Devgan), Arjun (Vivek Oberoi), Lallan (Abhishek Bachchan) from completely different strata of society and how one fateful incident on Kolkata's Howrah Bridge changed their lives forever. The film had garnered a business of Rs.14.24 crore at the box office.
