Kabir Khan got a first-hand experience of the power of Indian cinema when he was shooting for his film, Phantom (2015), in Beirut, Lebanon. “The city was coming out of the shadows of a long civil war, and we were to shoot in areas completely destroyed by the fighting. These were areas controlled by the Hezbollah. We were tense, as we would need to take their permission for the shoot. They were carrying guns when we went to meet them, but thankfully, they were aware of Indian cinema. So, we managed to convince them and shoot in Beirut without a hitch,” he told us.

Apart from Beirut, Phantom had Vancouver in Canada, Gulmarg, Chandigarh and Patiala as the shooting locations.
