John sweet christmas!
For John Abraham, Christmas has always been more than just a holiday and a reason to party. This 80-kilo, 6’ 1” hunk of pure muscle is all heart. It’s that time of the year when he gets totally into the spirit of things, complete with the Christmas hat. And we’re sure that Santa has got a whole lot of great surprises for this rockstar in store for the year ahead!
“More than anything else, it’s a great occasion to do something good, something meaningful for people to make them happy.

And yes, it’s also about some yummy food. For me, Christmas is probably that one time in the year when I allow myself to pig out on anything chocolate. That can be chocolate cakes, brownies, pudding... Ah, and how can I forget chocolate Christmas pudding, that great, traditional Christmas dessert! Well, as long as it’s about chocolate, it’s okay with me,” he says. But John’s Christmas naughtiness goes beyond dark confections. Here’s something that truly takes the cake! “Here’s a little something that I must confess to. I love marzipan and what I love more than the marzipan, is I love licking off the icing on top of the marzipan, and having it plain. Now you might think that ‘how does this guy manage to burn off all those calories?’ And the reason is because I always remember to do my workouts. I work out a lot, and so, I’m able to burn it off,” he says about his sugar fixation for marzipan that dates back to the time when he was knee-high.
For John, it does take a tree to tango, so to speak. “The Christmas tree holds a very special place in my heart. My mother actually puts up the Christmas tree on December 17, which is my birthday. So we start pretty early! It’s basically a family affair, Christmas Eve saw me at dinner at my brother’s place.” There’s another tradition that John fiercely guards, and doesn’t speak freely about because it’s so close to his heart and he doesn’t believing in making a big deal about it. For the last 25 years, the Abrahams have been going to the Cheshire Home for the Aged in Andheri to sing carols for the senior citizens there. “Mom makes Christmas special for a whole lot of people. It’s an emotional time for us,” he says.
For a guy whom a million young girls would love to have gift-wrapped for Christmas, he stresses that this festival is sacred for him, full of the joy of togetherness, a spirit of forgiveness and most importantly, the desire to do good. Santa, are you listening?
