Filmmaker
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is indebted to Jeev. “It is because of him that the film is actually happening. It was after we met Milkha that things just sailed. We have done good research with Milkha by spending time with him and talking to him about his childhood to his ascent as an athlete to the Olympics where he missed out on winning a medal. Jeev is very clued on to the project,” Rakeysh told BT.
But the most interesting news emerging from the film is Jeev'splans to take the film global. Sources in the industry are gossiping that Jeevhas a proper plan. “What we hear right now is that Jeev will travel withhis father to various cities of the world in which Indian population is asizeable number and promote the movie. UK, US, Canada are the countries that arebeing targetted. A full-proof plan will be chalked out when Rakeysh startsshooting post August,” says a trade source.
Rakeysh, who iscurrently busy funding Teen Thay Bhai — a quirky story of three brotherswho hate each other from the bottom of their heart, is most excited aboutJeev’s involvement. “I’m hoping he does whatever he can totake this movie to as many people as possible. It’s a film travelling fromPakistan to India to Commonwealth and Olympics. Milkha is the most successfulIndian athlete of all time and his record has still not been broken. His storyneeds to be told. From winning Commonwealth Gold, he lost out in Olympics inwhich he finished a painful fourth missing a medal by a whisker. It’s anemotional journey of a man that has never been narrated,” hesays.
