It looks like actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada once again has landed herself in legal troubles. On Tuesday, the MP/MLA court in Rampur has directed the Superintendent of Police to ensure her arrest and produce her before the court on February 27.

The decision came after Jaya Prada failed to appear for a court hearing, despite repeated notices and non-bailable warrants against her. Senior prosecution officer Amarnath Tiwari told IANS that this marks the seventh instance where Jaya Prada has not complied with the court's directives.

In response to the court's order, the Superintendent of Police has been instructed to form a special team tasked with apprehending the former MP. Jaya Prada, who transitioned from a successful film career to a stint in politics, is currently considered 'absconding' in two cases related to the violation of the code of conduct.




Last year, a court in Chennai found the actress guilty in connection to an old case. The court handed down a sentence of six months in jail along with a fine of Rs 5,000. According to reports, Jaya Prada was accused of failing to pay Employee State Insurance (ESI) contributions to the workers of her theatre.

Despite admitting to the charges and expressing intentions to clear the outstanding dues, Jaya Prada's appeal for dismissal of the case was rejected by the court. Instead, the court upheld the verdict, imposing both a fine and a term of imprisonment on the former MP.
