Yesteryears’ vamp
Bindu has recently given an interview where she claims she was denied the Filmfare award for her performance in Raj Khosla’s Do Raaste because, says Bindu, she was a newcomer. She also goes on to drag
Jaya Bhaduri’s Filmfare Award ostensibly for Hrishikesh Mukerjee’s Guddi to prove that the Filmfare was given to newcomers.
Firstly, Bindu was not a newcomer when she did Do Raaste.
She had already done five films before Do Raaste including Anpadh where she played Mala Sinha’s daughter. Secondly Jaya Bhaduri did not win the Filmfare award for Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Guddi. She was nominated in 1972 for both her spectacular performances in Guddi and Uphaar but lost the trophy to
Asha Parekh in Kati Patang.
Moral of the story: Before one plays the victim card, they should at least get the facts right.
