After tickling the ribs of his audience on social media, actor-influencer Viraj Ghelani made his debut into stand-up in Mumbai. Ghelani performed two consecutive performances in Mumbai. Moreover, despite the venue's capacity capped at 700 seats, the turnout defied all projections, with an overflow of 1500 eager fans awaiting Ghelani's debut. With the auditorium brimming beyond its limits, Ghelani graciously welcomed additional attendees to experience his gig firsthand. Some enthusiasts went to great lengths, perching on floors and stairways, refusing to miss Ghelani's debut.
“I used to make funny videos on the streets in Kandivali and Borivali. Now I have my own shows in Bandra. It feels like a dream,” Ghelani shares and goes on to add, “I was excited and nervous on show day. But when I saw the audience enjoying, it made me it all worth it. When there were a lot of people coming in, more than the capacity of the auditorium, I felt butterflies and fireworks in my stomach. Their laughter helped me perform better for sure. And the love they showed my Nani was the highlight of it all, which made my family tear up with happiness. I am so grateful. Doing Stand-up for the first time ever obviously made me nervous but it's fun. During rehearsals, I felt many emotions at once. One of the best parts of the show was when everyone joined in the improv sessions. Trying new jokes and overcoming stage fright are part of the journey. Each challenge teaches me something, helping me grow personally and professionally.”
Last year Viraj made his acting debut with Govinda Naam Mera in 2022 and was also seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s hit flick Jawan. On his acting stint, Ghelani shares, “Acting for the first time felt like a new world altogether, something that I had just grown up watching as audience! Being around famous actors like SRK, Sanjay Dutt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhoomi, Kiara was unthinkable to be honest but really fun.”
