Javed Akhtar says he misses Salim Khan; reveals he met him recently when he wasn't well

The pair of Salim-Javed (Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar) is iconic in Hindi cinema. The writers redefined Hindi movies in many ways and are largely responsible for creating the 'Angry Young Man' image of Amitabh Bachchan. After working together and writing cult movies like 'Zanjeer', 'Sholay', 'Deewar', among others, their partnership fell apart in the 80s. But Salim and Javed still have very high regards with each other and try to remain in touch.

In a recent interview, Javed Akhtar shared that they often speak on phone. The writer spoke to Chetan Bhagat at the ABP Ideas Of India 2023 Summit that, he had met Salim Khan recently when he wasn't keep very well. Moreover, Javed's children Zoya and Farhan have great regards towards him and even he has a great relationship with Salim's children. Javed also shared that he misses Salim. He added, “I have great respect for him and if I’m not being too presumptuous, he also likes me. ”

Recently, after Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar had also appeared on Arbaaz Khan's show, 'The Invincibles'. He declared on the show that Arbaaz is his favourite child of Salim. Akhtar had also revealed that after a point, their mental rapport wasn't the same as it was when they started out, that's why the writer duo drifted apart.
