Janhvi Kapoor remembers mother Sridevi wearing a pattu saree for puja and decorating the house on Diwali

Janhvi Kapoor reminisced about celebrating Diwali with her late mother, actress Sridevi. She shared that growing up, her family placed great importance on traditions and her mother loved decorating the house for Diwali. Janhvi feels a strong connection to her mother through these traditions and considers her mother to be a very religious person. She fondly remembers the Diwali dinner at her grandmother's house, where the family would dress up and enjoy delicious food.

Janhvi Kapoor recently remembered his late mother and legendary actress Sridevi as she spoke about how they celebrated the special occasion of Diwali together.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Janhvi said that she has grown up in a household where traditions have been a big part of our family and her childhood. The actress recalled how her mom always enjoyed decorating the house on this day.

They would have a Diwali pooja, and on Ganesh Chaturthi they would always meet as a family, Karva Chauth too is a big one.

Janhvi further said that she feels that all of this has been inculcated in her strongly by her mother. According to her, Sridevi has always been a very religious person. Janhvi feels like her investment in all of these traditions makes her feel closer to her late mother.

Recalling one of her memorable diwali memories, Janhvi shared that there’s always been the Diwali dinner at her dadi’s house where there is amazing food and the entire house is decorated with lights. The entire family gets dressed together and have a good time.

Talking about how a typical Diwali celebration looks exactly like this in her family, she said that there is pooja which happens during the day at either their office or house. For that, she has always seen her mother wear a traditional Pattu saree. Then for dinner they would have fun at dadi’s house, eating pulao, rajma, the Kapoor khandaan delicacies. Janhvi added that she might have missed the dinner at times, but she has never missed the pooja.
Sridevi passed away in 2018 due to accidental drowning in her hotel room in Dubai where she was attending Mohit Marwa's wedding with her family.
