Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson: Bollywood fans call epic match a remake of Vijay Deverakonda starrer 'Liger'

The boxing match between social media star-turned-boxer Jake Paul and legendary heavyweight champ, Mike Tyson has taken the internet by storm. While sports enthusiasts were discussing the 27-year-old defeating the icon in an eight-round bout on Friday, Bollywood movie fans made the most of the trend and brought a filmy twist to the match.

Indian fans couldn't help but draw an unexpected parallel between the Paul V Tyson match to the 2022 film 'Liger', starring Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday in lead roles.

In 'Liger', Deverakonda plays an underdog MMA fighter who faces off against Mike Tyson in a special cameo. Sharing the fight scene from the film that marked the boxer's Bollywood film debut, social media useres flooded the platfom with memes and comments, jokingly dubbing the fight a "Liger Remake".


One fan tweeted, "Mike Tyson was never the same after the thrashing he received from Liger."



Another said, "Losing to #jakepaullive Paul- Mike Tyson’s downfall started after acting in the liger movie"






Ram Gopal Varma also commented on the match saying, "My take on the TYSON / PAUL fight is , if there’s such a fight in the CLIMAX of any film, the film will be a SUPER DUPER DISASTER."

This prompted fans to respond saying, "Just like LIGER."



'Liger' received mixed reviews on its release in 2022 and failed to make a significant mark at the box office.

Meanwhile, as far as the fight is concerned, It was the first sanctioned fight since 2005 for Tyson, who fought Roy Jones in a much more entertaining exhibition in 2020. Paul started fighting a little more than four years ago and managed to win the eight-round match by unanimous decision. All the hate from the pre-fight buildup was gone, replaced by boos from bewildered fans hoping for more action in a fight that drew plenty of questions about its legitimacy long before it happened.
