And as far as Sai Baba is concerned, I believe there is only one God. Like Sai, I too believe that Sabka Malik Ek Hai.How difficult was it to portray Sai Baba? It was quiet easy after the director’s instruction.
There are many similarities between Sai Baba and me. He believed there is only one God and so do I; he loved Sufi music, so do I. He was a fakir, so am I (laughs). He used to carry a bag, I’m carrying one right now. He was a nice human being and I have tried being one too. Baba’s philosophy goes well with my life. I believe in all religions.
Have you been to Shirdi?I have been to Shirdi once, but I don’t believe in going to a temple. God is in my heart, I see God in my daughter and my mother. So has he seen the original film, Shirdi Ke Saibaba? No. I haven’t seen any film, but the director (Deepak Balraj Vij) had made a film Shirdi Ke Saibaba earlier and he guided me. I only did some research. That’s about it all.How did you prepare for the role?I had to lose 15 kg before I started shooting. Everybody knows Sai Baba. Being an actor, I had to be extremely convincing while portraying the role. Even if I’ve managed to come 50 per cent close to Him, I will consider it a great achievement.
