Sonu Sood first decided on the subject of '
Tutak Tutak Tutiya
' while he was shooting with
Jackie Chan for their Indo-Chinese production in
Beijing
last December. Enthused by the horror comedy idea, he shared it with Jackie, as they had become close buddies during the making of their movie. Later, he also spoke to director
Stanley Tong about it. Buoyed by their encouraging feedback, the actor decided to make his production debut with this subject.
Sonu recalls, 'Jackie loved the story when I shared it with him as I was planning to venture into movie production. While he egged me on to go for it, Stanley also said that a horror comedy is an interesting genre for me to make my production debut.' Of course, his international actor friend also had a word of caution for him. As Sonu reveals, 'Jackie told me that in his first few films as a producer, he tended to go over budget. He advised me to be cautious and not be overenthusiastic about something on the spur of the moment and add to the production cost unnecessarily. He also gave me an idea of the kind of action I could explore in the film.' Later, after he had completed shooting the movie with Prabhudheva and Tamannaah under the direction of Vijay, Sonu also got Jackie to unveil its first poster.
