Ex-NCB officer has slammed
Aryan Khan's debut directorial, Ba***ds Of Bollywood for mocking officers in a scene. He stated that his legal action is not for publicity but to protect the dignity of his family and officers working in anti-drug operations.
The controversy behind the case
It all started with arrest of
Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan in 2021 during a Mumbai cruise drug raid. Aryan was cleared in 2022 and later directed Ba***ds Of Bollywood. Apparently, a character in the show resembles Wankhede and mocks him and the national emblem, leading the officer to file a defamation case against Netflix and Red Chillies Entertainment.
Summons issued to Netflix and Red Chillies
Summons have now been issued to them in Wankhede’s defamation case. Responding to reports that his petition was 'dismissed,' Wankhede told Hindustan Times, “I was really upset why such a thing happened, when the reality is I was asked just to file an amendment basically. We brought to the Court’s notice too, that despite us being asked to file an amendment, some PR campaign is running about my case being ‘dismissed’ or ‘rejected’."
He added that even after the court reviewed his submission and the proceedings continued, some people still claim he is seeking attention—a claim Wankhede strongly rejects.
Fighting for family and law enforcement
“First, I am fighting for the honour of my family. And the honour of women as well. Self-respect is very important for any individual. Secondly, it is for the honour of the law enforcement officers, be it NCB, Customs or any beat. Anti-drug operations are such a serious thing. Officers bleed. I have seen and been on operations where my staff suffered head injuries, legs are broken. You just cannot make a satire at the expense of this. It’s not something to laugh at or make fun of. Thirdly, it is a matter of the national emblem’s honour. You cannot show a middle finger and play with national honour! As a citizen, I will definitely fight for these things, he shared.
The personal toll of misleading reports
Wankhede also highlighted the personal toll of misleading reports. “Some meme pages in the entertainment industry put out half-baked news with flashy headlines. After that, my wife and sister started receiving humiliating messages, calling my case rejected and mocking us in ways I cannot even repeat. They humiliated the women of my house."
He criticized media misrepresentation of his petition, which some outlets wrongly reported as “dismissed.” “I was asked to file an amendment — that’s all. But a PR campaign ran claiming my case was rejected. This misrepresentation directly affected my family,” he said.
