Despite working in so many movies in a career spanning over three decades, Anupam Kher has no qualms about working with newcomers. In fact, he didn’t think twice before signing Admissions Open even though he knew that the entire cast including director KD Satyam and producer Mohammed Ansari are new to the industry. “How can I have problem working with the young breed when I myself run a school? For me, it’s like imparting the knowledge I have gained over the years,” says Anupam.
Admissions Open made under the banner of Aman Films Production gives a different take on the educational system of India through a non conformist’s point of view. Doesn’t Anupam think this topic has already been dealt with in some films before? “The boy-meets-girl theme has been done to death, but have we stopped making romantic films? If you expect each film to be a completely different from what has been done before there won’t be any films made at all,” he explains. Talking about the time spent during the making of the film, Anupam says, “Satyam is passionate about his work and I enjoyed working with him. The energy on the sets, thanks to the youngsters, was very infectious. I haven’t seen the film so I can’t say how it has shaped up, but going by Satyam’s passion I’m sure the film will be good.”
