Ishaan Khatter praises 'Dhadak 2' as 'powerful and meaningful'; calls Siddhant Chaturvedi's performance his 'best so far'
Bollywood hunk Ishaan Khatter has come out in full support of the newly released romantic drama 'Dhadak 2'. The actor, who starred in the original 2018 film that went on to become a blockbuster hit, showered praise on the sequel, calling it "powerful and meaningful."
Ishaan, who made his big Bollywood break with the film, opposite Janhvi Kapoor, took to his social media handle to express his admiration for the new chapter in the Dhadak franchise which stars Triptii Dimri and Siddhant Chaturvedi in lead roles.
Sharing the film's poster on his Instagram Stories, Khatter was all praise in his post that read, “#Dhadak2 is a powerful and meaningful film and a great feature debut for @shaz.3.0. @karanjohar championing all kinds of stories with grit." He heaped special praise on the film's leading man, Siddhant, saying, "I am elated for you, brother, you were all heart in this and so good. Your best so far."
Directed by Shazia Iqbal, 'Dhadak 2' follows an entirely new narrative. The story revolves around a law student who falls in love with a classmate, only to face severe backlash from her family due to caste-based discrimination.
The film is an adaptation of the critically acclaimed Tamil film 'Pariyerum Perumal', and features Zakir Hussain and Saurabh Sachdeva in key roles.
Despite the buzz around the film, 'Dhadak 2' has been struggling to get a footing at the box office amidst stiff competition from new releases. According to early estimates from Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 3.5 crore on its opening day and saw minimal growth on Saturday, earning an estimated Rs 3.75 crore. With Sunday's early estimates said to be around Rs 2.75 crore, the film is expected to record a first weekend collection of approximately Rs 10 crore.
The film has been facing stiff competition from new releases like Ajay Devgn's 'Son of Sardaar 2', and mainly older releases like the box office blockbuster 'Saiyaara' which is showing no signs of slowing down, the animated film 'Mahavatar Narsimha', which is now set to hit the Rs 100 crore mark.
