Ishaan Khattar: Shahid is a vampire

After making a notable debut in Beyond The Clouds and Dhadak, Ishaan Khattar returns to the screen with the captivating war film Pippa, where he assumes the role of Captain Balram Singh Mehta. Since its release, the film has garnered great reviews from fans and critics alike. A pivotal element of Ishaan's character in the movie is the compelling dynamic with his elder brother, a stark contrast from the real-life rapport he shares with his elder brother Shahid Kapoor. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, the actor delved into the intricacies of his relationship with Shahid.


He said, “Any relationship especially with siblings, there will be friction. So the concept is not alien to me. But I've not had the traditional or typical sibling relationship because for that you have to be closer in age to have that friendship and banter. But he’s about 15 years older than me,so he is like a father figure , the predominant male figure in my life. He's actually been the only one who's been there. So of course there's a line of respect."

Shedding light on the change in their dynamics over time, he shared, "I think ever since I've grown into an adult, there has been more of a friendship and there's been more banter and he's eternally youthful. Everyone looks at him now and says that we two are only a few years apart. I think he's a vampire, he drinks blood ( laughs).”

Ishaan also shared the reference point for his equation with his brother. He mentioned that he has many friends who have siblings that are 2-3 years older than them and that the older sibling always feels entitled while the younger one feels like he can’t figure out his left from his right.
