Ishaan and Janhvi learn Mewari language for 'Dhadak'

The two left no stone unturned to do justice to their roles
One of the major differences between '

Dhadak

' and 'Sairat' will be its milieu. While the original was set in the interiors of Maharashtra, director Shashank Khaitan’s love story with

Ishaan

and Janhvi is based in Rajasthan. With 'Dhadak' being an adaptation of

Sairat

, the director and his team have ensured to change things up accordingly.

When the crew of the film first visited Udaipur for the recce, both Ishaan and Janhvi struck up conversations with the locals. The idea was to get both the actors to pick up the nuances and accents of the local language. Mewari has been a rarity in Hindi cinema, and Shashank Khaitan thought it was best if the two leads of his film got well-versed with it before shooting began.

Not just that, Ishaan went the extra mile to make his Rajasthani character (Madhu) look authentic. The young actor even got his ears pierced to look the part.

'Dhadak', produced by Karan Johar, Zee Studios, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta, releases on July 20.
