Is 'The Battle of Galwan' delayed? Salman Khan prioritizes quality over April 17 release date - Reports
Salman Khan has been making headlines for his upcoming war drama ‘The Battle of Galwan’, a film that has generated strong anticipation among audiences. However, fresh reports suggest that the makers may be rethinking the planned April 17 release, with discussions underway about pushing the film to a later date.
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, the primary reason behind the possible delay is the film’s incomplete shoot. A crucial week-long schedule is set to begin from February 9, after which “a few more days of shooting are left, and by February-end, it’ll be a wrap.” This tight timeline has reportedly made the team cautious about committing to the April 17 deadline.
Post-production and approvals add to the timeline
The report further revealed that once filming concludes, director Apoorva Lakhia will move into post-production. “Director Apoorva Lakhia will begin editing the reshot portions. And that’s not all. As per the rules, ‘The Battle of Galwan’ needs to be shown to the Ministry of Defence, and this process might also take time.” Because of these factors, the makers reportedly feel they may not be able to meet the originally announced release date.Salman Khan’s stance on the film
The report also stated Salman Khan’s clear vision for the project, stating, “Salman Khan is clear that such a special, patriotic film needs to be nurtured well. He has told the team of the film that they should not rush through the process and should take their time in ensuring that the final product looks appealing, compelling, and cinematic.” This approach reflects the importance the actor places on doing justice to the subject matter.Final decision still pending
While postponement is being seriously considered, the final call has not yet been taken. As the source added, “Though Salman Khan and Apoorva Lakhia are seriously considering postponing ‘The Battle of Galwan’, they are yet to take the final call. Salman bhai is unpredictable; he might still get the film out on April 17 despite the circumstances, but the chances seem remote. A clearer picture is expected to emerge in a few days from now.”About the story of ‘The Battle of Galwan’
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, ‘The Battle of Galwan’ revisits the intense 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. Based on the book India’s Most Fearless 3, the film depicts one of the rarest modern military confrontations where firearms were not used. Instead, soldiers engaged in brutal hand-to-hand combat using sticks and stones, making it a deeply emotional and powerful chapter in Indian military history.Cast, characters, and release plans
Salman Khan will be seen in a rugged, battle-hardened avatar, while Chitrangada Singh plays a key role in the narrative. With its patriotic core and tribute to the courage of Indian soldiers, ‘The Battle of Galwan’ is being positioned as a significant cinematic homage to the armed forces. As of now, the film remains slated for a theatrical release on April 17, though clarity on the final date is expected soon.Get the latest entertainment updates from the Times of India, along with the latest Hindi movies, upcoming Hindi movies in 2026 , and Telugu movies.”end of article
