Filmmaker Avinash Arun, who bagged the National Award for Best Marathi Film and the Crystal Bear for Best Film at the 64th Berlin International Film Festival for his directorial debut ‘Killa’, earlier this year, is gearing up for his big Bollywood debut.
The 29-year-old director, who has been working on the script for over a year, has roped in Irrfan Khan to play the lead in the yet-untitled film.
Speaking from Bikaner, Avinash told Mirror, “I am currently locking the final draft along with the cast and crew.

The film is expected to roll towards the end of 2016. Before that, Avinash will commence shooting his second Marathi film, 'Boomerang', in July. “‘Killa’ was my ode to the Konkan, ‘Boomerang’ will showcase my love for the Sahyadri mountains, and is inspired by my own childhood experiences. Children are an integral part of this film too,” says Avinash, who spent a good part of this year shooting Neeraj Ghaywan’s ‘Masaan’ and Nishikant Kamat’s ‘Drishyam’ as a cinematographer.

Meanwhile, Irrfan has reunited with his ‘Qissa: The Tale of a Lonely Ghost’ director, Anup Singh, for a love story, ‘The Song of Scorpions’, which is currently being filmed in Jaisalmer with camels and Iranian beauty Golshifteh Farahani, who plays his wife. Irrfan will also be seen in the Ron Howard-directorial ‘Inferno’, an adaptation of Dan Brown's book by the same name.
