When Irrfan Khan accused Tigmanshu Dhulia of genocide and shouted at him after a crew member set a beehive on fire

Tigmanshu Dhulia recently opened up about an incident when he was scolded on set by his 'only friend in the world', the late actor Irrfan Khan.


The filmmaker stated that Irfan used to express his true feelings to him. Tigmanshu recalled an incident on the sets of ‘Saheb, Biwi, Gangster Returns’ and revealed that he observed a beehive at their shooting location. He lost his control and said that the beehive should be moved by the next day. The next day, when he reached on set, he discovered that someone had set the hive on fire, which led to thousands of bees dead. Irrfan was seething with anger after this incident.


In an interview with the Red Mike YouTube channel, Tigmanshu revealed, "He said, “Mujhe ek baar Irrfan ne bahut daanta. Mera uska jhagda waise kam hua hai… Main set pahuncha shooting ke liye, Irrfan bahar khada hua tamtamaya hua. Kehta hai, ‘Yeh kya kiya hai tumne?’ Chaar gaali saath mein. Kisi ne madumakkhi ka chhatta jala diya yaar. Wahan pe hazaron madumakkhiyan mari padi thi. Mujhe bahut daanta, ‘Tumhe pata hai madumakkhiyan kya cheez hoti hain?’ Pollination se leke… Maine bola yaar maine thodi kaha tha jalao, madumakkhi hatane ke aur bhi tareeke hote hain. He really took my class. Narsanhar hi tha woh (Irrfan yelled at me once, we didn’t argue much otherwise… I reached set for shooting, and saw Irrfan there, angry. Somebody had set fire to the beehive, thousands of bees had died. Irrfan yelled at me about the importance of bees, abused me. I told him I didn’t order it, but he saw it as a genocide).”

Irrfan passed away in 2020 after battling cancer for two years.
