Irrfan has a special friend
Irrfan Khan’s new friend is an autistic child.
The story of Apna Asmaan is so unusual that one day Irrfan Khan asked Kaushik Roy, the director, what inspired him to write the film?
That’s when Kaushik revealed that though the story was a work of fiction, a lot of things were true. It was based on his own son Orko’s life — an autistic child.
Orko had serious motor coordination problems till the age of 11 he could not hold a pencil properly to write. And then one day, he turned his handicap into his strength by starting to draw with bold, uninterrupted lines.
This inspired Kaushik to encourage people to look beyond their weaknesses and parents to encourage children to pursue their own dreams rather than chasing their own.
After this incident Irrfan developed a very special relationship with Orko who would often visit the sets. In fact, he would start his day by taking a photograph of Orko and him together.
Even to this day every mail or SMS from him to Kaushik always has a mention about Orko. Orko’s Irrfan’s special friend now. Irrfan sure has a heart of gold.
