Irrfan Khan’s nothing if not experimental. Having played a baaghi in his last release, Khan is all set to don the mantle of a bandwallah and that too one who belongs to Lucknow. Khan and his co-actor from “Yeh Saali Zindagi” Aditi Rao Hydari have been cast in this as-yet untitled film, being made by producer Anjum Rizvi, which is based on the wedding bands.
To be directed by
Shivam Nair, the film, a rom-com, is being penned by Lucknow-based writer Anshuman Chaturvedi and will have a backdrop of Lucknow where Irrfan Khan will be playing the band member of the fictional Saraswati Brass Band of Old Lucknow. According to Rizvi, Khan will be playing the role of a man searching for a perfect girl by wooing the girls he meets at weddings.
Confirming the report, Rizvi says, “Irrfan and Aditi will be the lead pair of my film with Lucknow in the backdrop. We plan to shoot in the city as we feel our story will do well to have Lucknow’s heritage structures in the backdrop and we might be there some where around mid-July or August. We plan to shoot in the old city area as well as adjoining areas.
When asked if Irrfan’s character is inspired from real life, Rizvi hastens to add, “The Saraswati brass band, of which Irrfan Khan is one of the members, is fictitious and has no resemblance to any such bands of Lucknow. Nor is our story inspired from any real life character.”
