Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced through his production house that the film has been shelved.
Taking to the official Bhansali Productions twitter handle, the makers issued a statement that read, "Bhansali Productions has decided to not go ahead with
In-shaa-Allah
for now... Further announcement will be out soon... God willing."
This comes as a huge shock to fans eagerly awaiting the project that would bring together Salman with Bhansali after two decades. The film would have also marked Alia's first collaboration opposite the 'Kick' actor.
The day was off on a low note with Salman announcing that the film will be "pushed". for all the Salman and Alia fans! Their upcoming film 'Inshallah' has been pushed. Salman shared the news, writing, "The film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali is pushed but I will still see you all on Eid, 2020. Insha-Allah!!
The filming of 'Inshallah' was supposed to begin in September after Salman wrapped up work on 'Dabangg 3'. The music of the film was said to be scored by the director himself, who had recently picked up a National Award for composing the soundtrack of his 2018 hit film 'Padmaavat', starring
Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Shahid Kapoor.
While the indefinite wait for 'Inshallah' begins, fans can now look forward to seeing Salman in Prabhu Dheva's 'Dabangg 3'. Alia, on the other hand, will star next in 'Brahmastra' alongside boyfriend
