IndiGo flights cancellations: Sonu Sood and Vir Das urge passengers to respect ground staff, say 'they are helpless'
IndiGo flight disruptions across India have caused travel chaos, leaving passengers stranded and frustrated. Social media is flooded with videos showing travellers shouting at ground staff, demanding updates on delayed or cancelled flights. Amid the unrest, actors Sonu Sood and Vir Das have appealed to the public, urging people not to take their anger out on frontline employees.
The actors’ appeal highlights a growing problem at airports during IndiGo’s disruptions. Meanwhile, as reported by ANI, on Friday, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the formation of a high-level, four-member committee to thoroughly review and assess the events that caused the recent widespread operational disruptions at IndiGo Airlines.

Vir Das asks passengers not to vent
On Saturday, Vir Das took to X (formerly Twitter), to ask passengers not to vent their frustration on the ground staff. He wrote, “The decent thing to do? The entire senior management of Indigo should be made to take shifts at the airport and stand there. From CEOs to VPs and such. The decision makers. Instead of the terrified junior employees with no power, cabin crew, and ground staff, who have been left to deal with the yelling and screaming.”Sonu Sood requests patience from travellers
Sonu Sood also shared a video message on social media, asking passengers to be patient and reminding them that ground staff are helpless in such situations. He wrote, “A delayed flight is frustrating, but remember the faces trying to fix it. Please be nice and humble to the IndiGo staff; they are carrying the weight of cancellations too. Let’s support them."Sonu shares his family’s airport experience
In the video, Sonu shared his own family’s experience, “My family was one of the thousands who had to face delays and long waits at the airport. They had to wait for over 4–5 hours for their flight. I know a lot of meetings were cancelled, and many people could not attend important events… Everyone is hurt and frustrated. But imagine yourself in the place of the ground staff. They are helpless… They only communicate the messages that they receive. So why react to them? It is our responsibility to support them during this tough time and not react because they are helpless.”The actors’ appeal highlights a growing problem at airports during IndiGo’s disruptions.
