in connection with the crane accident on 'Indian 2' set, which claimed three lives on February 19.

Haasan arrived at the office of G Nagajothi, the deputy commissioner of police of the Central Crime Branch for questioning, which lasted three hours and was taped. “Police summoned me to collect details about the crane accident. I’m one of those who escaped unhurt. It’s my duty to narrate the sequence of

incidents

,” the actor-politician told the media afterwards.

He also discussed ways to prevent such incidents at shooting locations in the future. “Very soon, we will be taking it up with the film fraternity and seek police advisory on such accidents,” he informed. S Shankar, the film’s director, had appeared before the investigating team last week.

The Nazarethpet police registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 304 (A) (death caused due to negligence) against the crane operator,

production

manager of the film and the banner behind the film, Lyca Productions. Later, the case was transferred to the Central Crime Branch and the crane operator was arrested.

Assistant director Krishna, art assistant Chandran and production assistant Madhu died and nine others were injured after a malfunctioning crane came crashing down at a private studio, where Haasan’s next film was being shot, on the outskirts of Chennai.
