On Thursday, the title of Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming ‘Cheat India’ was changed to ‘Why Cheat India’ following the CBFC's recommendations.
In a silent protest of sorts, the actor along with the producers and the director Soumik Sen changed their name on social media platforms.
Emraan and producers Tanuj Garg and Atul Kasbekar added a "WHY" before their Instagram and Twitter names as a mark against the decision of the censor board.
The movie also marks Emraan's debut as a producer and is based on the Indian education system.
It is scheduled to hit the big screen on the upcoming Friday. As per reports, the reason given by the CBFC to the filmmakers was that the previous title was 'misleading in the context of the film'. The makers decided to agree and change the title as the releasing date is nearby.
