Imtiaz Ali to start shooting Amar Singh Chamkila biopic in October -Exclusive!

Imtiaz Ali's films are always highly anticipated and the buzz around the biopic of slain Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila has been escalating for quite some time now. Well, ETimes has learnt that the film featuring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra will begin shooting in October with pre-production starting in end of September.
ETimes caught up with Imtiaz at the Khidkiyaan Theatre Festival and he revealed, "The film will go on floor in October.'' Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were killed, along with two other members of their musical band on March 8 in 1988.Their assassination remains an unresolved case to date.

Apart from the Chamkila biopic, Imtiaz Ali has two shows this year including, She Season 2, which has already released and then there is Thai Massage, which he has produced. The filmmaker also had a meeting with Kartik Aaryan and is apparently planning his second film with the actor who was his leading man in Love Aaj Kal 2.
Imtiaz Ali's daughter Ida was also present at the festival. Talking about her career prospects Imtiaz said, "She is also turning director very soon.'' Incidentally Ida has never assisted her father in any of his projects. She had directed her short film 'Lift' at the age of 15.
