About two months back, Bollywood industry has been buzzing with the news of actor Imran Khan planning to revive his grandfather Nasir Hussain’s film banner. And the news was confirmed at legendary actress Asha Parekh’s 70th birthday bash on October 2 at a suburban hotel in Mumbai where many Bollywood bigwigs were present for the celebrations. The youngest Khan of the generation, Imran, who was present with his wife Avantika confirmed the news.
He received accolades and was lauded for the decision by many legends like
Amitabh Bachchan, his wife Jaya,
Manoj Kumar,
Aruna Irani and
Asha Bhosle amongst others who were present for the birthday bash.
“Everyone present at the party appreciated this thought and patted Imran’s back for making an attempt at keeping his heritage alive. They felt it was a noble act,” said a source and family friend of the Khans.
Nasir Hussain has given Indian cinema iconic films such as
Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai, Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon, Teesri Manzil, Yaadon Ki Baraat, Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai. Though Nasir’s son Mansoor Ali Khan had given a shot at continuing his father’s banner by producing hits such as
Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and
Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander but over a decade back Mansoor left the industry and went into hibernation after the Shah Rukh Khan-Aishwarya Rai film
Josh (2000).
Ever since Nasir Hussain banner has been left untouched and now Imran Khan plans to revive the production house.
