Imran Khan addresses rumors of rift with Ranbir Kapoor, saying, 'Scope was limited'; adds, 'Male actors tend to meet less'
In a candid discussion, Imran Khan clarified the speculation regarding his relationship with Ranbir Kapoor, attributing their infrequent personal encounters to the nature of the film industry and distracting narratives from outside. He remarked that male actors often have fewer opportunities to bond, which can stunt the growth of their camaraderie.
Imran Khan, who recently made a comeback with Vir Das's 'Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos', recently opened up about his equation with Ranbir Kapoor. The actor addressed the rumored rift between him and the scion of the Kapoor family. Let's take a look at what the 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' actor has to say.

Imran Khan opens up about his equation with Ranbir Kapoor

In an interview with News 18, Imran Khan opened up about speculations of a rift between him and Ranbir Kapoor. He shared that they are literally a few months apart from each other in age. Khan added that they never really knew each other on a "personal level." The actor further shared they both got to meet each other when they were young actors who had newly joined the industry.Imran expressed, "The thing is, there’s a certain amount of personal interactions that happen and much more of external narrative building that you aren’t really involved in or have a hand in."The 'I Hate Luv Stories' actor also revealed that such outside narratives had an impact on their equation. He said, "You hear something, you read something. Because of the way that played out even within the media narratives, it perhaps hindered the ability of developing any kind of a truthful relationship."
The actor went on to mention that the scope to have a good equation with Ranbir Kapoor was quite limited. He said, "The fact is that Ranbir and I would really get to interact socially within an industry context. So, the scope of any relationship was always limited."

Imran Khan shares that male actors tend to meet less

Imran also acknowledged the fact that Ranbir and his friend circle overlapped since they both were "Bandra kids." He opened up about one fact that people rarely talk about. He said, "I guess it’s a weird and not so much considered facet of the business that male actors tend to meet each other less."Imran shared the reason behind his statement. He said that male actors work with different actresses and spend over six to eight months during the film shoots, and hence, they get to know them a little bit. On the contrary, according to Imran Khan, "It's less common for actors to do films together. As a factor of that, you tend to have less of an opportunity to get to know actors within the same age bracket."

Imran Khan on if Ranbir Kapoor was his competitor

In the same interview, Imran Khan was asked if Ranbir Kapoor was his competitor at a certain point in his career. To which, the actor stated that he had not been active in Indian cinema for quite some time. He has not watched RK's 'Animal' as well, and hence, for him, "it's hard to talk about his growth in the last few years."Imran added, "But while I was actively working, I watched all of his films."Khan further shared, "I've always considered him to be a tremendously strong actor." He called Kapoor a "thinking cinema person." Praising the 'Barfi!' actor further, Imran stated, "He has a strong instinct and thinks deeply about the craft of acting and the language of cinema. And that reflects in his work."Meanwhile, Imran Khan recently made a special appearance in Vir Das' 'Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos'.
