SHE’S just back after a hectic two-week shoot in Malaysia and Singapore and Jennifer Kotwal is thrilled. “I have three releases coming up and am glad I’m working with only big stars,” she gushes. The actress shot for two films back-to-back and is now chilling in home town Mumbai. “I shot for Luva Kusha, which also stars Upendra, Shivrajkumar and Charmi and it was so much fun. In Singapore, Shivanna and I — whose films I can never say no to — danced atop a boat with me in high heels. It was hip hop and even though onlookers thought we were crazy, we thoroughly enjoyed it,” says Jennifer.
The actress also shot in Malaysia with Darshan for Eee Bandhana. Incidentally, she plays the love interest of the hero in both films. But doesn’t she find those roles a tad boring? “No way! I don’t find it boring at all. I love my job. I get to travel to exotic locales, act with the biggest stars and I think that’s the best way to get a good opening for your films. Yes, the fate of the films can’t be predicted. But I feel it’s apt for me to play the glam girl at this stage in my career,” she says.
Jennifer adds that her glam roles have always been interspersed with versatile characters. “Like in Yugadi, I play a very emotional person and whoever saw the film said they never knew I could act so well. In Satyavan Savithri, I dealt with comedy and that’s such a tough genre.”
But most of her films have had more than one heroine. Doesn’t that make her insecure? “I’ve pondered that, but I’m very secure about myself. I’m not easily threatened and am too busy having fun at work to waste time thinking about such things,” she says.
There’s buzz that there are more than 100 Kannada films that star newcomers that will go on the floors this year. But the actress isn’t apprehensive about competition. “I’m not scared one bit. I’m confident about my work and I mind my own business. Besides, I’m getting A-grade offers from the Kannada industry, so there’s nothing to worry,” says Jennifer.
