IFFI selects lineup for on-ground screenings

With 50% occupancy, SOPs in place, shows with 1.5 hours gap, physical screenings will be organised at

IFFI

in Goa from January 16-24. Over 200 films will be screened under different sections at the festival which will be organised in a hybrid format.

Another round to open 51st IFFIDanish filmmaker Thomas Vinterberg’s 'Another Round', which is Denmark’s official entry for Oscars 2020 will be the opening film at IFFI. This film was also part of Cannes Film Festival’s official selection. Kiyoshi Kurosawa’s Japanese film 'Wife of a Spy' (2020), will be the closing film at IFFI. Among others, Satyajit Ray’s '

Pather Panchali

' (1955), Stanley Kubrick’s 'Path of Glory' (1957), Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 'Devdas' (2002) will also be screened.An official says, “Over 200 films will have physical screenings. We have received overwhelming participation for physical screenings. Besides, this year, IFFI is a festival of premieres.” These screenings will be at multiple venues – Inox, Maquinez Palace and Kala Academy in Panaji.

This year, IFFI’s ‘Country in Focus' is Bangladesh. This is a special segment that recognises the cinematic excellence and contributions of the country. This section at the 51st IFFI will showcase four films – 'Jibondhuli' by Tanvir Mokam Mel, 'Meghmallar' by Zahidur Rahim Anjan, 'Under Construction' by Rubaiyat Hossain and 'Sincerely Yours, Dhaka' an anthology film with shorts by 11 noted directors. According to an official, a delegation from Bangladesh will be present at IFFI.”
