54th IFFI to include a new award category - Best web Series Award... Read More
Last year at International Film Festival of India (IFFI), web series got a lot of love from the audience – be it the cast and crew of Family Man, Mirzapur or Israeli TV series Fauda creators Lior Raz and Avi Issacharoff. Now, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has decided to include a new award category in IFFI – Best Web Series Award.

Announcing the new category, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur said, “Delighted to announce the Best Web Series Award at IFFI Goa to be presented to an exceptional web series for its artistic merit, storytelling excellence, technical prowess and overall impact.” He added, "The award aims to incentivise and create investment opportunities in India's OTT sector." While most web series have foreign collaborators and co-producers, it will reportedly not be a hindrance to apply for this award. The award includes a Rs10 lakh prize money.
