NEW DELHI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry on Monday referred to the Law Ministry for its opinion on the demand made by actress Manisha Koirala for withdrawal of the Censor Certificate given to controversial film Ek Chhoti Si Love Story.Sources said the Information and Broadcasting Ministry has asked the Law Ministry to examine the legality of the demand made by the actress, the protagonist of the film who has been opposing 'objectionable' scenes in it.However, they said any decision on the matter will be taken only after closely examining it.Information and Broadcasting Minister Sushma Swaraj, who had a meeting with Koirala on Sunday, had said the demand for withdrawal of the Censor certificate to the film could be examined as there were such provisions in the law.Koirala had asked Swaraj if the Censor certificate given to the film could be withdrawn under the Cinematography Act.The film has been released in some theatres despite a High Court ban as several prints were already circulated to exhibitors all over the world.
Koirala's lawyer Satish Maneshinde, however, threatened to drag the exhibitors and theatre owners to the court if they violated the judicial order banning the film's screening.
