I won't shy away from Bollywood: Jeanne Keitzmann

Love, trust and Skype are what keep it going between Team Hyderabad pacer Dale Steyn and his partner, actor-model Jeanne Keitzmann, who’s also open to B’wood offers
I won't shy away from Bollywood: Jeanne Keitzmann
South African actor-model Jeanne Keitzmann is in India! No, she’s not here on an assignment. TOI had earlier reported that Jeanne will come to India to cheer Dale. The lass, who plays a lead role in “Outcasts” — a science-fiction series — had accompanied the Team Hyderabad pacer to Kolkata. Unfortunately, the match against the home team, on April 24, was washed out due to rain.

That didn’t stop Miss Keitzmann from raising temperatures a few degrees higher. She then travelled to Pune where Steyn’s team registered its first win, this IPL season. In a candid chat, Jeanne opens up about being Dale’s lucky charm, Bollywood offers and more. Excerpts from the interview:
What’s it that you like about India?
I enjoy the Indian culture and also the fact that people here are so hospitable and humble. I’m frequently expressing my love for this country on Twitter.
You once went on record saying you are Dale’s lucky charm...
I was definitely misquoted in that interview. I feel it’s more of a coincidence that he plays well when I’m around. But then, Dale has always been an unbelievable bowler.
You played one of the lead roles in “Outcasts”. What’s been the biggest challenge of acting in it?
The entire shooting process was an incredible experience. But I’d say the biggest challenge was learning a new accent. And also, waking up at 4.30 am almost every day was very difficult because I’m not a morning person.

Given that both of you have really busy lives, do you get to spend quality time together?
I guess, our love and trust in each other keeps our relationship going, not to mention the endless Skype conversations. We also ensure that we are not away from each other for longer than four weeks.
How close are you with Jacques Kallis’ partner, Shamone Jardim?
We are really close... she’s an amazing friend and there’s nothing we wouldn’t do for each other.
Do you have any ambitions of working in a Bollywood film? Have you watched any?
I’ve never auditioned or been offered a Bollywood film. I’m sure if it were to happen, I wouldn’t shy away from the experience. As an actor, you are continuously pushing yourself as per your capabilities. I’m lucky to be a trained dancer. My favourite movie would be “Slumdog Millionaire”.
Professionally, what’s keeping you busy these days? How supportive is Dale of your career?
I was in Los Angeles for the “American Pilot” season. My manager is currently in negotiations for potential roles. I’m taking things as they come. Dale is unbelievably supportive. I’m truly blessed to have someone like him.
When do you both plan to settle down?
We have been together for over five years now. So we are more than settled down.
Do you have any dream destination for your wedding/honeymoon?
It would be somewhere where we can take our five dogs (laughs).
