Choosing passion over security, actor and writer, Prince Rodde, left a stable job as a banker and closed two restaurants he set up in Mumbai, all driven by his love for acting. Smitten by the glamour world, the Delhi-born moved to the city of dreams in 2009. Since then, he has been determined to make a name for himself in showbiz.
He tells us, “After my studies, I started working as a banker in Delhi.
However, in 2009, I was transferred to the bank’s Mumbai branch, and I consider it a divine intervention. I was so besotted with the entertainment world that I quit my banking job and set up two restaurants in Mumbai thinking they would run on an auto mode while I pursued acting and writing. However, I soon realised that the profession demanded my undivided attention. In 2018, I packed up everything and plunged into showbiz. If you ask me, I am extremely happy with my decision.”
Sara Ali Khan writes a birthday note for Kartik Aaryan despite his recent statement about her; actor reacts
He bagged his first acting assignment a year later with ‘Chance Pe Dance’ starring Genelia D’Souza and
Shahid Kapoor. Reflecting on the challenges faced along the way, the actor, who was also seen in Commando 2’ and the TV show, ‘Dil Se Dil Tak’, before he ventured into the OTT space with ‘The Sholay Girl’ and ‘Manghadant’, says, “Challenges are inevitable in every field, but the acting profession is special because of its dynamic nature. The job isn’t fixed; you play multiple characters in your career, each role demanding different qualities, sometimes completely different from who you are. The challenge lies in maintaining balance, especially when you have to set aside your ego and ask for work from those people whom you would not even acknowledge if not for their positions. I am glad I have overcome this challenge with time.”
But what he can’t accomplish as an actor, he does it through writing. He ventured into writing during the pandemic. He recalls, “I started as an actor because that’s how I always wanted to be known. Writing became a need-of-the-hour during the pandemic. I always had many stories in my head, and it was during the lockdown that I sat down to write. I wished to tell stories but wasn’t aware of the outlet. Once I was given a task to write a brief for a character, I was portraying the following day; that was the beginning of it all. I realised that I had a knack for it, and I am happy that I developed my passion. I developed many scripts and stories during the lockdown and pitched them to OTT platforms and directors. Having said that, acting will always be closer to my heart.”
