I don’t try to look good: Aftab

TOI catches Aftab Shivdasani in a chilled out mood.
I don’t try to look good: Aftab
Call him funny face, romantic hero but Aftab Shivdasani seems on a roll.
After a dull stint, looks like the year 2008 promises loads of action for the good-looking actor whos trying his best to shed his chocolate boy image on screen with a vengeance.
Probably that explains why hes got as many as four films lined up to hit the screen this year Ganesh Acharyas Money Hai to Honey Hai, Aloo Chaat with Aamna Shariff, Indra Kumars Daddy Cool and Sanjay Guptas Acid Factory, and E Niwas De Taali has just hit the box-office.
1x1 polls

For someone who has tasted success when hes ticked our funnybones, Aftab firmly points out that he has no intentions of letting himself get typecast and is trying to do different kinds of roles. If I like the script, I definitely go ahead with any kind of character, he informs. But the one character that Aftab doesnt ever want to play is that of a drag. These kind of characters dont excite me at all and I dont even want to play them.
Unlike a lot of his contemporaries, Aftab doesnt have this burning need to be seen in a multi-starrer. In fact, he says that doing a multi-starrer is much safer. You have to share a great screen rapport with your other co-actors, only then will the end product be good.
If there have been professional letdowns because he did the wrong kind of films, Aftab is diplomatic enough not to want to talk about them anymore. I regret doing some films, I went wrong in selecting them. But I dont want to discuss them anymore. I am only looking ahead. Hed like to work with the likes of Rakesh Roshan and Raj Kumar Hirani some day. And he also dreams of composing background music in future.

Wed heard that he was turning film producer as well and had launched a company too. Is that true? Yes. Weve started work on a film and we will start shooting for it this year. I am also writing the script for this film with a Delhi-based writer, Ravindra Manga. I am finalising on a lot of small details. Once everything is done, we can talk about it in detail, informs Aftab.
The secret of his boyish good looks is, never trying to look good, laughs Aftab, adding, Seriously, I keep reinventing my looks, hit the gym, eat the right food and play cricket and badminton. Aftab also likes it when hes given space. He claims he cant stand fakes and opens up only with people I am comfortable with. The one touchy subject that he will not talk about is his recent break-up with Yana.
I dont want to talk about my love life at all. I am happy keeping it to myself, he shrugs.
