‘I don’t like to indulge my daughter with plastic toys’

Actress Neha Dhupia talks about how she is making her daughter environment conscious
‘I don’t like to indulge my daughter with plastic toys’
Soon after winding up a day-long schedule in the city, actress Neha Dhupia was seen glancing at her watch every next minute. That clearly showed how desperate she was to return home to her 14-month-old daughter Mehr Dhupia Bedi. “I joined work when Mehr was only 45 days old, and I look forward to spending as much time with her as possible,” says the 39-year-old actress who is also a new mother.

Like any other mother Neha too wants to see her little one grow into a beautiful and strong person and she has already started doing that. She reveals that the first word she has taught Mehr is ‘Bas’ (enough) and Neha feels immensely proud that at such a young age her little girl has learnt to say enough. “If the food being fed to her is too much she says ‘bas’, if she is forced to do anything or someone is pulling her cheeks or tickling her way too much, she says ‘bas’. The other day she was playing, and somebody tickled her and she said, ‘no, no, bas bas,’ and I was so proud of her because at such a young age the kid has learnt to say ‘no’ and she will remember this all her life which will help her to become a strong and independent woman. And like any other mother I want that for my daughter,” expresses Neha.
‘Change should start at one’s home’
Apart from inculcating such a powerful thought, the actress is also making sure that her little one grows up in an atmosphere which will make her environment friendly. “I don’t indulge my daughter with plastic toys. I have stopped giving her toys that are made of materials that are harmful to the environment, instead I give her wooden toys that too in limited number. Right now, our environment is in a horrible situation and we must do our bit that will help fix things,” shares Neha. She also urges people to educate their house help to cut down on water wastage, “It is important to tell people working at home to minimise the use of water while washing utensils or vegetables. I urge everyone to start the change from their own home,” the actor signs off.
