Model and actress Priya Bakshi, known for her debut in Vinay Sharma’s political drama ‘JNU: Jahangir National University’, recently opened up about a troubling encounter she faced in Mumbai. Taking to social media, Priya revealed that on her way home from Bandra late at night, the auto-rickshaw driver allegedly diverted from the usual route and refused to halt the vehicle despite her repeated pleas, even after she made it clear she didn’t wish to continue that way.
Priya Bakshi shares disturbing experience in Mumbai
On February 14, Priya uploaded a video to Instagram, visibly shaken as she pleaded with an auto driver to stop the vehicle. Despite her repeated requests, the driver allegedly continued driving, insisting he was on the right route. Priya explained in the video that she didn’t recognize the road he had taken and pointed out that even Google Maps wasn’t showing that path. In response, the driver said, "Map mein route nahi bata raha hai, yehi sahi raasta hai."
Priya Bakshi recalls driver’s irritated reaction
Priya recalled that when she tried to question the driver about the direction he was heading in, he seemed irritated and snapped back, asking if she actually knew the route herself, while insisting that he was going the right way. "Auto roko bhaiya, main police ko phone kar dungi. Aap auto roko. Bhaiya, aap kahan se leke ja rahe ho? Please auto roko. Mujhe aapke saath nahi jana hai..."
Priya Bakshi says auto driver turned aggressive
When the actress insisted that she no longer wanted to continue to the destination and repeatedly asked the driver to stop, he allegedly stopped the auto in anger and said, "Mat jao. Pata-vata hota nahi hai, chale aate ho. Yeh hamara area hai, yahan mat aaya karo."
Priya Bakshi expresses anger after stepping out
After stepping out of the auto and standing on the roadside, Priya remarked, "Mujhe bhi koi shauk nahi hai yahan khade rehne ka. Hum North Indians ko trash ki tarah treat kiya ja raha hai. I am done with this! I am not going to take this shit. Seriously?".
Priya Bakshi talks about inclusivity in her caption
Alongside the video, Priya captioned her post with a thought-provoking message, noting that at times, the real issue lies not in the route but in people’s reactions. She wrote, "Being unfamiliar with a city doesn’t make someone inferior. Asking a question doesn’t make someone disrespectful. And belonging to a different region doesn’t make someone a strange entity." Urging her followers to embrace inclusivity beyond regions and stereotypes, Priya also mentioned that the post was part of a brand collaboration.
