Honey Trehan to make his directorial debut

The coming year will witness another directorial debut in Bollywood. Honey Trehan, who has worked as a creative producer on films like Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Talvar’, is all set to turn director with the upcoming film, ‘Raat Akeli Hai’.

A romantic thriller, it has been penned by Smita Singh, who has co-written one of the most popular web-series of the year. The film, which stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Radhika Apte, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Aditya Srivastava and Ila Arun in pivotal roles, will go on floors in Lucknow on January 21.

The filmmaker told a daily that his film is a love story, which has the crime world as its backdrop. Apart from direction, Trehan also launched his banner, in 2015. His production debut was Konkona Sen Sharma’s ‘Death In Gunj’. He told the publication that he was also backing another film starring Rishi Kapoor and Juhi Chawla, but had to put it on hold because of Kapoor’s health issues. His next production venture is ‘Sonchiraiya’, directed by Abhishek (Chaubey), and starring Sushant Singh Rajput, Manoj Bajpai and Bhumi Pednekar.

Trehan has also assisted filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj and and Abhishek Chaubey on films like ‘Makdee’, ‘Maqbool’, Omkara and ‘Udta Punjab’, to name a few.
