Earlier, music was created for hearts but these days it is only for the ears," the veteran singer, who was a contemporary of Mohammad Rafi, told reporters here on Friday.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="">Describing the current phase of film music as "disappointing," Dey said the "quickies" being churned out these days have a very short shelf life. "A song is recorded today, released tomorrow and goes out of listeners'' memory a day after," he said.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="">"I do not know whom to blame. We cannot blame musicians and singers. </span><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="" font-style:="" italic="">Yeh to samay ki maar hai </span><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="">(changing times are to blame)," Dey, who was in town to perform at a function, said.</span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="">However, he named A R Rehman and Anu Malik as his favourites among the new crop of music directors. </span><br /><br /><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="">On the new trend of remixing of old songs and how he would feel if his own songs were to be remixed, Dey said: "</span><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="" font-style:="" italic="">Main hazar maut mar jaunga </span><span style="" font-size:="" font-weight:="" bold="">(I''ll die a thousand deaths).�</span></div> </div>
