‘Hero’ clocks 40, Meenakshi Seshadri reveals that she had a high fever during the shoot
Subhash Ghai’s directorial ‘Hero’ starring Jackie Shroff and Meenakshi Seshadri in the lead roles clocked 40 years of its release on Saturday (Dec 16). Released on December 16, 1983, the film also marked Jackie Shroff’s debut in films.
As the film clocked 40, Meenakshi Seshadri reminisced about shooting the film. Speaking to News18, Meenakshi Seshadri revealed that she had a high fever while shooting ‘Hero’. The actress revealed that she was quite unwell during the shoot of the song ‘Nindiya Se Jaagi Bahaar’ song for ‘Hero’.
Meenakshi recalled that she had to shoot the song under a cold waterfall in Ooty, and during that time she had 104°F. The song featured the heroine enjoying the beautiful valley. The actress expressed that she isn’t sure how she completed the shoot, as she was in quite bad shape. She also reminisced that the schedule was pretty tight, and the director gave her two days' leave for her sickness, however, on the third day they had to shoot.
Meenakshi also spoke about filming for ‘Painter Babu’, her debut film in Shimla, in the snow. “I was dressed like Dimple Kapadia in Bobby in like shorts and a choli and the hero was in his two layers of sweaters and hat and gloves,” she said, walking down memory lane. She further revealed that she had to roll down the snowy slope, and unfortunately, they did many retakes, and by the end of it, she fainted. “I actually lost consciousness because my body had become so numb and everybody got so scared,” she added. She recalled that later the team carried her through the snow to where their cars were parked, which was quite strenuous for them.
‘Hero’ won hearts both for its gripping plot and music. The film was a hit at the box office, and it was later remade in Tamil and Kannada. The same film was remade in 2015 in Bollywood with the same title.
